Job Description

AECOM is seeking an E&I Planner to be based at our CNRL Horizon location in Fort McMurray, Alberta.
This position provides the tools and systems necessary to effectively and proactively manage, control, and report on cost and schedule for concurrent projects throughout the organization.
May include the following responsibilities:
  • Services include planning, cost and schedule (work breakdown structure) metrics and tools, collecting performance data (installed quantities, expended labor hours, and other progress measurements for direct hire and subcontract work), tracking data (daily cost compilation and monitoring), analyzing (earned value, productivity and risk analysis), and reporting.
  • Identifies and tracks all changes or potential changes to the project scope, ensuring estimates of cost changes and schedule impact are given visibility with the client and project management.
  • Integrates cost and schedule data and reporting with the company's accounting and management information systems to facilitate meeting company performance and financial goals.
  • May also be involved in change control management, document control management, and critical path method network analysis.
  • Demonstrates consistency and utilizes clear judgment.
  • Knowledgeable of planning and scheduling concepts and principles including effects on financial performance.
  • Works toward alignment of customer and company objectives.
  • Understands financial terminology and measures.

  • Collects and updates data and updates and produces scheduling reports.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of WBS and support activities to implement applicable coding. Supports basic schedule development.
  • Supports gathering and assembling data for schedule updating.
  • Supports measurement of project schedule progress and gathers and assembles data for schedule and network updating.
  • Gathers data for schedule baseline development and maintenance.
  • Supports monthly report preparation.
  • May participate in planning and scheduling meetings to gain insight to planning and scheduling issues.
  • Exposure to basic scheduling and cost baseline fundamentals, concepts and principles.
  • Investigates causes of variances between planned and earned/actual progress and recommends solutions or recovery plans.
  • Measures progress and reviews performance trends.
  • Understands and applies fundamental schedule control techniques and the relationship between project revenue and cost.
  • Logically organizes the workflow and makes judgments on durations and resources to accomplish the work.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, business or related field, or demonstrated equivalent and related experience.
  • Entrants to this position require 2 years of experience in engineering, procurement and construction projects or maintenance projects in a planning and scheduling position.
  • Possesses strong computer skills with developing knowledge of company cornerstone applications.
  • Familiar with construction drawings, specifications and construction contracting methods.
  • Understands CPM scheduling concepts and principles and able to develop basic engineering, procurement and construction logic.
  • Understands concepts and principles of scope control and change management and earned value methodology.
  • Possesses the ability to work with the project or proposal team.
  • CSTS (Construction Safety Training Systems).
  • Must have experience working with Maximo (EAM) software program.
  • This position will be required to drive a vehicle on behalf of AECOM and therefore will require the candidate to submit a satisfactory driver's abstract for review.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Pursuit of the CCC (Certified Cost Consultant), CCE (Certified Cost Engineer), ICC (Interim Cost Consultant), PSP (Planning and Scheduling Professional) or EVP (Earned Value Professional) and/or PMP (Project Management Professional) or CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) certification is encouraged.
