Senior Engineer

The Senior Engineer supports the Engineering and Senior Management Team (SMT) through the planning and execution of project work in accordance with the applicable legislation. The incumbent unifies a team of technical professionals and stakeholders behind the goal of delivering exceptional public service through strategic vision and the implementation of design and the execution and completion of projects.

Essential Competencies
The incumbent will be a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of British Columbia, or be eligible for registration as a P.Eng. in BC. The District of Sechelt is looking for applicants with a minimum of five years of experience in municipal engineering.

Successful applicants will have professional and intuitive communication and interpersonal skills to respond to inquiries from all levels of employees (including Management), Council, taxpayers and other stakeholders. If you consider yourself to be a self-motivated leader and you can work with minimal supervision while multitasking, this could be the job for you! We are looking for effective organizational skills for high stakes tasks such as implementing District capital projects and ensuring private developments are approved and constructed in accordance with District standards.

The incumbent will have a high level of understanding survey information and be able to interpret engineering plans and carry out site visits. This incumbent must have familiarity with applicable construction municipal standards, such as MMCD, and be able to interpret, implement and adhere to the District’s organizational policies and procedures. The role requires technical proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Civil 3D and AutoCAD Software.

Working Conditions
This is an exempt position. Salary for the position is competitive. Hours of work are 35 hours per week between Monday and Friday. The full job description is available through Human Resources.
