We are currently looking for a Security Tester and Evaluator (Network-connected Products) based in Ottawa, Ontario.


You’ll be responsible for conducting security vulnerability testing to ensure a network-connected product or device maintains specified confidentiality, integrity and availability requirements while operating under adverse (attacker) conditions. You will work closely with technical leads and system developers to gather security requirements. You’ll be responsible for creating test plans and will set up and maintain security testing tools, and will prepare test reports based on existing industry standards. You will determine and validate the security characteristics of the products or devices under testing based on industry standards. In addition you will participate in the development of new testing methodologies and contribute to the documentation of the same.


As part of this role, you will interface directly with customers to provide technical guidance in support of products or devices under evaluation.


Technical Requirements:

·Analytical and critical thinking skills

·Excellent writing skills – must be able to prepare written reports

·Excellent English communication skills with the ability to articulate requirements in technical and non-technical terms to customers, peers, and management

·You are familiar with security testing tools and automation techniques

·Successful completion of a post-secondary program, preferably in a field related to IT security, computer science, or engineering


Experience with or knowledge of any or all of the following would be considered to be an asset:


·Experience in hardware product design, development and/or testing

·Knowledge of Linux, Windows, iOS, Android, other embedded operating systems such as QNX, etc.

·Knowledge of cryptography

·Knowledge of industry security standards such as: ANSI/UL 2900, IAS/IEC 62443, ISO 27000, ISO/IEC 15408, FIPS 140-2, etc.

·Non-vendor, professional designations and certifications (e.g. GPEN, OSCP, CISSP, etc.) are an asset

·Experience working in a regulated, accredited facility or environment

·Proven ability to work independently


Duties will include:

·    preparing test plans, executing these plans, and generating the necessary reports documenting the results;

·    consulting the senior tester on all testing matters requiring clarification;

·    supporting the senior tester for assigned activities;

·    acting as lead tester, once qualified, on specific testing projects on an as-needed basis;

·    performing testing activities on an as-required, as-tasked basis; and

·    conducting testing activities in accordance with all applicable standards and methodologies.


Other Requirements:

·Must be a good team player.

·Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.


All candidates must be eligible for security clearance to the level of enhanced reliability/secret.
