Salary:  $35.66 - $44.57 per hour
Hours: 22.5 hours per week; Shifts: Days
Status:  Temporary Part-time   6 months

JOB SUMMARY:

The Registered Clinical Dietitian works to ensure that patients receive appropriate and optimal nutritional care by performing the following responsibilities: performing functions to ensure the provision of nutrition services to established standards of quality; initiating and collaborating with patients, their significant others and other health care workers to systematically collect data about the health of each patient for initial screening, in-depth assessment and on-going monitoring and reassessment; initiating and collaborating with patients, their significant others and other health care professionals to identify priorities, target dates and strategies or interventions in order to contribute to the individualized treatment programs that achieve the optimal outcome for each patient; initiating and collaborating with patients, their significant others and other health care professionals to safely and effectively perform the strategies and interventions directed by the treatment program; initiating and collaborating with patients, their significant others and other health care professionals to systematically evaluate the extent to which optimal outcomes have been achieved; delivering, coordinating and participating in professional development/education activities to ensure excellence in the provision of nutrition services, including providing clinical education to interns and other health care professionals; participating in communication activities to maintain and continually enhance the coordination and quality of Nutrition services at the Hospital; performing administrative responsibilities to ensure the efficient and effective operation of Allied Health; providing functional supervision and guidance to assigned technical and support personnel; conducting practice based research; performing other functions consistent with the job classification, as required. 

QUALIFICATIONS:                

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Science degree program major in Nutrition or recognized equivalent
  • Successful completion of a dietetic internship program accredited by Dietitians of Canada or recognized equivalent
  • Successful completion of certification program in area of specialization preferred
  • Five (5) years hospital in-patient related experience preferred
  • Previous experience working with inpatient neurological conditions preferred
  • Experience with the provision of enteral and parenteral nutrition
  • Experience with conducting practice-based research an asset
  • Experience supervising dietetic students/interns an asset
  • Registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario
  • Membership with Dietitians of Canada preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving, organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of food preparation and food allergies
  • Knowledge of Body Substance Precaution provisions
  • Ability to adapt to a wide variety of patient populations and needs
  • Ability to extract very detailed information to make informed decisions
  • Broad-based knowledge and versatility
  • Computer proficiency an asset
