Recreation Workers – Summer Student Positions
(Child and Youth Workers)
We are seeking five (5) Recreation Workers to perform work over the summer in support of a variety of recreation programs in our community with special interest and experience with children and youth. These positions are responsible for and/or provide assistance in planning and implementing recreation programs for all ages. The successful applicants will have knowledge of the fundamentals of program leadership and experience in instruction of a wide variety of programs for all ages, including children and youth. Individuals will facilitate and/or support drop-in & sports programs, camps, afterschool programs, wellness and physical literacy, outdoor activities, special events, youth mentorship and/or youth centre programs and volunteer development.
The successful candidates will have completed grade 12 supplemented by courses related to the work, plus experience; or an equivalent combination of training experience. You must be willing to work various shifts, Monday through Sunday, 5:45am – 10:15pm as scheduled.
The term for these positions is Wednesday, June 13, 2018 until Tuesday, August 28, 2018. Positions include:
Summer Behaviour Access Leader – 1 position – 40 hrs/wk. To provide inclusive and adaptive special need assistance to children who require 1-1 or small group support.
Camp Leaders – 2 positions – 40 hrs/wk. (Pitt Troopers Camp Leader and Sport, Skateboard/Scooter Camp). To provide front line leadership of fun, safe, supervised sports, social play and recreational half day and full day camps for preschool and school-age children.
Camp Supervisors – 2 positions – 40 hrs/wk (Pitt Troopers Day Camp and Sport, Skateboard/Scooter Camp). To plan, implement and supervise program leaders, volunteers and program participants in the summer camp programs
***These positions are partially funded by the Government of Canada Summer Jobs 2018 Program which stipulates that only applicants returning to post-secondary education in September 2018 are eligible to apply***
Child Youth Worker $18.52 (+8.2% in lieu of benefits)
