Located next to downtown Victoria, the Township of Esquimalt, with a population of over 17,000, is home to Canada’s Pacific Naval Fleet. The community boasts extensive amenities including beautiful parks and beaches, scenic waterfront walkways as well as modern recreational facilities, schools and commercial services.

The Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill a full-time regular Recreation Coordinator position. Reporting to the Recreation Manager, the Coordinator supervises the Reception Services team, acts as the Administrator of the PerfectMind registration software, and is responsible for the advertising and promotion of Esquimalt Parks & Recreation programs and services. As Administrator for PerfectMind the incumbent will oversee the implementation, deployment, and operation of registration, booking, and user analytic systems for Recreation program and service needs. This position will appeal to a flexible, resourceful, and adaptable team leader with an eye for emerging trends and technologies that can benefit the department.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Recreation Administration or equivalent, supervisory/leadership training, a class 5 BC driver’s licence, criminal record check, basic first aid, CPR “C”, and 3 years of progressive experience in a municipal or similar environment.   

Other preferred qualifications include:

  • Proficiency with PerfectMind software, including experience with its installation and configuration (or similar Recreation Management Software);
  • Ability to collect, review, assess, and interpret user data and patterns under minimal direction;
  • Ability to perform diagnostics and troubleshooting of PerfectMind software, liaise with PerfectMind to resolve issues, and provide software support to staff;
  • Knowledge and experience with Community Development and Recreation Programming; and,
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.

Salary: $39.76 – $42.90 hourly plus benefits
