Our Buildings & Facilities Maintenance Section is looking for a technical expert with great leadership skills to perform preventative maintenance and service/repair operations on various heating/cooling systems and components in a variety of City facilities. Work in a safe, clean, and secure environment with state of the art tools and up-to-date training.

 

Your day may include:

 

  • Plan, schedule, assign, supervise and lead the activities of up to 20 Tradespeople

  • Inspect works in progress and upon completion for adherence to provincial codes, City bylaws and standard trade practices

  • Oversee and supervise contract work for adherence to specifications and observance of safety practices

  • Conduct inspections of existing plumbing and heating systems to determine maintenance and/or repair needs

  • Make recommendations for renovations and new installations

  • Estimate cost of proposed projects

  • Prepare employee timesheets, maintain cost records, write monthly and annual reports, assist in budget preparation

  • Take inventory of tools, materials, equipment, requisition supplies

  • Perform other related duties as required




Qualifications

:
  • Certified Alberta Journeyman in the trade of Plumber/Gasfitter

  • 5 years progressively responsible experience at the Journeyman level; experience to align with the maintenance of plumbing, heating and related systems

  • Formal supervisory or leadership training preferred; candidate will be required to complete the Aspiring Leadership program upon appointment

  • Proficient skills in Microsoft applications and SAP software

  • Excellent knowledge of regulations and practices in plumbing, heating and/or gasfitting trades; considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions

  • Skilled in the use of tools and equipment of the trade

  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills required

  • Possession of a valid Class 5 Motor Vehicles Operator's Licence or operators licensing equivalent Candidates selected for an interview will be required to bring in a current driver's abstract

  • Applicants will be required to arrange their own transportation and where appropriate will be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy. This may require the applicant to obtain business auto insurance

  • An original Police Information Check or Certified Criminal Record Check i that is satisfactory to the employer will be required before starting in this position
