What does a Payroll Coordinator look like at Western?


Reporting to the Payroll Manager, our Payroll Coordinators are an integral part of the Business Intelligence departments that support our business units across western Canada. Providing excellent service to their internal and external clients, they support them to achieve their departmental goals.


Your success stems from the assistance you provide to your colleagues through your ability to effectively support the Payroll teams objectives. You have the opportunity to be part of a collaborative team, who contribute to the overall success of the business.


  • Coordinate and process the full cycle payroll function, organization-wide, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements
  • Provide guidance and deliver solutions on payroll and systems matters
  • Maintain business controls and audit trails for for all payroll transactions
  • Produce and distribute T4s, ROEs and other payroll related documents
  • Manage Time and Attendance to support of Managers and employees

What we are looking for?


Being successful in this role requires an ability to focus in a deadline driven evironment, verify data with a high level of detail, and to contribute to a positive work environment by encompassing our Guiding Principles.


  • Proven work experience preparing reports on payroll activities, and reviewing for accuracy
  • History collaborating with Human Resources to execute terminations and annual compensation review processes
  • Experience preparing, posting and making adjustments to journal entries and reconciling payroll accounts
  • Previous experience working with an external payroll systems provider to coordinate the payroll process and systems
  • Quebec and multi-province payroll experience an asset




  • High River, Alberta
  • Full Time – 37.5 hours/week
  • Monday - Friday schedule
