AECOM is seeking an Inventory Control Specialist to be based at our IOL Kearl location in Fort McMurray, Alberta.
This position is responsible for all material control, warehousing, storage and surplus disposition activities.
May include the following responsibilities:
  • Monitors, coordinates and reports on material related activities from preparation of bill of materials, ordering, transportation, receiving, installation and surplus disposition.
  • Performs material control functions in conformance with the requirements of the prime contract with the client.
  • Tracks the receipt, identification, storage, movement, utilization and disposition of construction materials, small tools and consumables, permanent plant materials and equipment, and parts for facility maintenance and operations.
  • Ensures proper identification of received goods and their storage location.
  • Maintains auditable records of receiving and issuance data, necessary for documenting the material control and warehousing processes.
  • Tracks returns, care, custody, movement and control of materials.
  • Maintains records of on-hand inventory, performs cycle counts and otherwise verifies the accuracy of physical inventory.
  • Prepares and issues reports on physical inventories, including those of any loss, damage or destroyed goods.
  • Maintains records on issuance of equipment and goods to subcontractors.
  • Demonstrates consistency and utilizes clear judgment.
  • Works toward alignment of customer and Company objectives.
  • Works to meet Company and Project objectives in regard to budgets and schedules.
  • Works with the Company material control systems and processes.
  • Understands material control terminology, measures, concepts and principles.
  • Recognizes material control processes/project actions that may impact the project.
  • Demonstrates consistent, effective and efficient written and oral communications skills.
  • Expresses ideas, exercises sound judgment and effectively listens.
  • Conforms to Company performance standards and applies administrative bulletins, Project Execution Procedures and other Company standards.

  • Documents receipt of materials and non-complex equipment.
  • Assists in resolving overages, shortages and damages in received goods.
  • Prepares issuance documents.
  • Performs physical inventories and maintains records.
  • Assists in planning warehouse layouts and lay-down areas.
  • Documents maintenance of equipment in storage.
  • Prepares requisitions for warehouse operations and replacement of consumables.
  • Assists in the preparation of inventory reports. Identifies excess material.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, construction management, economics or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and related experience.
  • CSTS (Construction Safety Training Systems).
  • First Aid - Standard Level.
  • Zoom Boom certification.

  • Entrants to this position require a minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering, procurement, construction, or maintenance projects in a material control or other procurement and materials management function.
  • Possesses the ability to perform basic material control functions.
  • Advanced skills in problem resolution.
  • Understands basic legal terminology.
  • Has strong computer skills ability to use procurement and materials management systems.
