The Opportunity :

As part of a winning team, the incumbent will be responsible to provide development and delivery of category strategies, through analyzing local and global category and consumer data, to identify insights, trends and actionable opportunities that will lead to more effective decision making, category performance and our Company competitive advantage.

The selected candidates will be located in our Concord office, and will perform the full time role of Insights Manager.


  • Deliver market research projects (discuss brief, recommend methodology and supplier, work with supplier on questionnaire, review all inputs prior to fieldwork, check initial results before presentations to brand teams, help to conclude and recommend action plan) in order to help solve business challenge
  • Use research to form practical insight-based actions to shape stronger commercial plans on price,promotion, distribution, shelf space
  • Connect, correlate and integrate data from multiple sources to create a deep understanding of the category and consumer to drive brand and commercial decisions which deliver business results
  • Identify category and consumer trends and foresight which can be leveraged for commercial advantage
  • Work closely with the Senior Customer Category Manager to initiate and lead strategic events and tactical activities that will build the business, reduce cost, and build the capability of the sales team nationally
  • Conduct customer reviews using a variety of data points which can include Nielsen, Precima, Retail Link,and combine them with consumer data to create powerful Category insights and wins for the business
  • Develop KPI’s for CBMs and Customers with respect to category performance in cooperation with the SLT group, and lead timely analysis of results against commercial, category and brand KPIs
  • Participate and recommend process and system improvements to current trade spending practices and identify opportunities to reduce complexity within trade spending, increasing control and improving overall trade spending effectiveness, including optimization of costs
  • Manage and maintain the Nielsen database and use the data for thorough category reviews on a regular basis
  • Develop a sound understanding of customer merchandising and category decision rationale and analyze customer and consumer data to identify opportunities consistent with the overall national sales strategy to drive growth
  • Co-manage learning and training activities for the sales team related to continual learning of Arla Canada systems and processes, as well as customer and consumer insights
  • Be on top of the latest industry trends in terms of testing, modelling, and tracking methodologies,using this perspective to promote continuous best practice within Arla Foods
  • Help teams (Marketing,Trade and CBTs) conclude research outcomes and be the guardian of the consumer truth
  • Proactively recommend research that can help resolve category challenges
  • Network with local and global teams to gather insights across the business in Canada and Arla Globally
  • Build understanding amongst the Arla marketing community of how and when to use market research most successfully, where it can help, and best practice in conducting and leveraging research learning

Basic Job Requirements:

  • Strong leadership &interpersonal skills to build rapport
  • Structured & analytical; ability to handle pressure in a fast paced environment; ability to build strong rapport
  • Must be a strong communicator to influence stakeholders and keep internal staff informed

Education& Experience Required:

  • Minimum completion of a University degree in Business or Economics; Previous experience with SAP an asset
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Category Insights leadership role with influencing capacity
  • Previous use and analytics of Nielsen data, Customer POS Data Databases, and Category Management experience
