Job Description

Temporary Full-Time Seasonal Opportunities Available

The City of Delta’s Parks Outside Operations services Delta’s three communities: Ladner, North Delta, and Tsawwassen. Exciting opportunities and challenges await those with a passion for horticulture and/or arboriculture. We are seeking reliable, self-motivated and flexible team players willing to work a variety of shifts to operate the City’s watering truck.

In this position, you will be responsible for safely operating the watering truck; watering hanging baskets and city trees. You must have the ability to work independently, effectively and efficiently without direct supervision. Your duties will vary and you will be responsible for performing manual and semi-skilled tasks and may include assisting crews in the maintenance of various landscaped and horticultural areas when required. Public relations and interpersonal skills are essential for success in these positions.

A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence with a safe driving record is required as well as familiarity with driving pickup trucks or larger vehicles. Towing experience is an asset. During the assessment process, successful candidates will be required to submit an acceptable Driver’s Abstract from ICBC. Successful candidates will be selected based on the experience and skills related to the job. Preference may be given to those who have completed training or courses in relation to horticulture or arboriculture.

The successful candidate will be available to work a non-standard work week including early mornings (4:00am) and weekends. The work hours may be adjusted due to seasonal and operational requirements.
