As the Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible to develop, lead and continuously improve the effectiveness of the Health, Safety, Wellness and Human Resources program and strategies. With a focus on adherence to applicable legislation and departmental targets, you will lead the Health and Safety function - achieving business objectives, and meeting and exceeding
Health and Safety program KPIs.

About the Role


Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, you will lead the Health, Safety, and Wellness programs and initiatives for the Canadian organization.


You will act as a technical resource for Stakeholders by educating, coaching, and generating awareness of safety initiatives and supporting the continual development of the work environment in accordance with legislation and best practices.


You will focus on continuously improving the health and safety program through analyzing metrics and data, determining risk, and implementing activities for positive change, including internal and external networking to develop, implement and adapt corporate policies/standards and related best practices.


With responsibility to champion the Claims Management process (both work and non-work related), you will coordinate timely return to work (modified work), including communication, documentation, tracking and reporting requirements.


By supporting, participating in, and continuously developing the Joint Health and Safety Committees, you will provide ongoing support in monthly meetings and inspections, coordination of workplace improvement activities, and ongoing education/training.


You will lead risk assessments of all operational changes with potential impact on significant Health & Safety, working closely with the operational teams to ensure alignment with the annual strategy, governance model and agreed upon plans, communicating
frequently with stakeholders and driving a safety mindset.


Who are you?


The successful candidate will have 5 years directly related experience in the areas of OHSA legislation, Workplace Hazard Identification/ Elimination, Health and Safety Claims Management, and health promotion activities, with a minimum of 2 years of technical
experience working in the dairy industry or a related food or consumer packaged goods manufacturing environment.


Your certifications will include a designation as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or related certification, as well as Joint Health and Safety Certification (JHSC) – Part 1 and 2.


You will have experience in dealing with WSIB/government agencies, group insurance adjudication, as well as demonstrated knowledge and proven understanding of Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

You will also have experience working with Health and Safety Committees, including the design, development, and facilitation of training.


You will possess strong leadership skills, including coaching and motivating stakeholders in the achievement of Health, Safety, and Wellness program ambitions and targets.
