1 temporary full-time position for 4 months, commencing in May 2019,  intended specifically for students currently enrolled full-time in an accounting, statistics, or engineering graduate studies degree program

Life Cycle Management (LCM), a section of Integrated Infrastructure Services, is the steward for asset management excellence at the City of Edmonton. We lead accountability for asset management decisions from ‘cradle to grave’ by developing a deep understanding of our partner’s business needs. We lead the creation of integrated Asset Management Plans (AMP) to maximize the value of the City of Edmonton’s assets, effectively manage risk and to develop safe, sustainable projects for the public.

LCM is developing asset management plans for all of the City’s infrastructure assets. As part of the development of the plans, LCM intends to conduct detailed data analysis (for example, data related to asset inventory, condition and financial information) of LCM’s managed and other corporate assets, identify gaps within the data groups and identify strategies that can be applied to an AMP.  This position would be responsible for conducting this analysis with guidance and oversight from City staff.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Participate and support the team members on a variety of Infrastructure Strategies and Innovation (ISI) projects

  • Conduct a detailed analysis of the existing LCM managed assets to make developments and updates

  • Coordinate and assist the team to collect and conduct data analysis

  • Undertake project work, under supervision, relating to asset management and data analysis or other related areas

  • Provide support for stakeholder workshops and other meetings

  • Other related duties as required

  • Currently enrolled in an accounting, statistics, engineering or equivalent post-secondary graduate studies degree program

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain strong working relationships

  • Excellent data analysis skills

  • Demonstrated ability to apply strategic and critical thinking

  • Demonstrated ability using Microsoft Office suite and Google Apps

  • Demonstrated ability to express ideas and concepts effectively

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and present technical briefs and reports

  • Familiarity with SAP, COBS, SLIM, GIS is considered as an asset

This position may be partially funded through the University of Alberta Graduate Student Internship Program (GSIP).

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Salary Range: $25.135 - $30.710 (Hourly); $30.710 for Engineering; $25.135 (Hourly) for all disciplines excluding Engineering
