Job Description of FW DVT Engineer

Brief Description

Infinera (Ottawa Office) is looking for a Firmware Design Verification Test Engineer to develop a highly reliable optical control firmware for Optical Line System. The hired Firmware DVT Engineer will work on multiple tasks in a dynamic engineering environment:  Develop test plan and auto-test SW; execute FW DVT tests;  FW trouble-shooting/debugging and providing FW support for all kinds of integrations and DVTs, and continuously improve FW DVT test strategy, process and auto-test platform to grow our competence in FW design validation test. 

Job responsibilities

Infinera (Ottawa Office) is looking for a Firmware DVT Engineer to develop a highly reliable optical control firmware for Optical Line System.  Duties will include but are not limited to:

Design test plans & procedures for design verification test of firmware functionalities, optical control performance and FW reliability. Develop and maintain FW DVT test stations and auto-test SW in an R&D environment using Python. Execute all type of FW DVT tests and drive issue-fixing Conduct detail trouble-shooting and FW debugging of test failures to determine the root causes Continuously improve test process to enrich test coverage but reduce test execution time.

Job Requirements

The candidate shall hold a minimum Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited university.

Must have 1-2 plus years of experience in embedded SW and/or FW tests and auto-test SW development. Familiar with embedded system firmware development cycles, firmware quality assurance processes and regression test development Excellent experience in software or firmware DVT and test software development using Python scripting Operating and programming experience with test equipment such as Oscilloscope, OSA, VOA, Optical Power Meter, Tunable laser source is required. Good knowledge of digital hardware, ARM/FPGA/MCU, ADC/DAC, RS232, GPIB, and good knowledge of optoelectronic devices and optical networking products is desired. Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
