Job Description

The Transportation business line of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Electrical Engineer or technologist for the Calgary Office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Reporting to the Alberta Rail Lead, provide engineering, technical, and management support to the Rail Signals Group.
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals, design packages, and tender documentation.
  • Embrace project management principles and provide support to PMs.
  • Assist with preparation of design drawings for transit and freight rail signal systems that meet client and AECOM quality standards.
  • Produce plan sets including the filing and archiving of drawings and assists with quality reviews before drawings are released.
  • Complete first and second level checks for electrical designs.

Minimum Requirements
  • Engineering Degree or Technical Diploma (Electrical)
  • 0-2 years of related transportation and/or electrical experience.
  • Eligible for registration with APEGA or ASET.
  • Team player who is willing to take ownership of assigned work with ability to establish and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Demonstrates analytical, technical and problem-solving skills and abilities.
  • Works independently with general guidance except for complex and unusual situations.
  • Some skill in utilizing 2D AutoCAD, and an interest in growing that skill.
  • Proficient in Excel (experience with macros an asset)
  • Basic knowledge of Programmable Logic Controls Hardware & Software.
  • Basic understanding of Relay logic.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills and willingness to get involved in planning, design, and construction as projects dictate.
  • Willingness for field work and travel

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience coordinating multi-office team design projects.
  • Experience with project management principles.
  • Experience with proposals and report writing.
  • Railway Experience with awareness of CP, CN, or AREMA standards.
  • Entry level experience with project financial reporting systems, accounting principles, spreadsheets, report writing and basic knowledge of Occupational, Health and Safety legislation.
