What This Position Is All About:

The Director Accounting and Reporting is responsible for overseeing various monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements and activities of the internal accounting team for the US and Canada SAKS banners.   This includes leading the monthly banner accounting close process, statutory reporting, and ensures the team operates accurately and cost effectively with the appropriate systems.

Who You Are:

  • Analytical in nature and able to understand financial statement drivers and interdependencies
  • Superior communications skills, with a proven ability to build strong business relationships beyond your team; and to effectively manage the needs of multiple stakeholder groups
  • Demonstrated management, leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Able to develop, lead and monitor a culture of high efficiency, results and customer oriented corporate accounting and reporting services

You also have:

  • A CPA designation is essential
  • At least 7-10 years of experience in Accounting and Finance within a large, global and complex Retailer
  • An expert understanding of both IFRS and US GAAP
  • Previous experience with managing teams, directly and remotely, and team relocation 

As the Director Accounting and Reporting, you will:

  • Lead, develop, and monitor the accounting team for the Saks US and Saks Canada banners
  • Lead the sub consolidation process for all US entities
  • Review and approve high risk balance sheet reconciliations
  • Lead the quarterly impairment banner review process
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on complex corporate transactions
  • Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, and conduct annual performance reviews
  • Communicate and collaborate with multiple Accounting teams and business partners to provide support and guidance over various ad hock issues
  • Lead the external and internal audits for their respective banner
  • Other ad hoc projects as required

    25% between Canada, US and India.
