City Arts Centre Instructor - Program Specialist  Ongoing

The City Arts Centre is currently looking for enthusiastic Fine Arts Instructors to teach our Visual Art, Dance, Cooking, Pottery, and Knitting lessons. We offer daytime, evening, and weekend courses to all ages and skill levels at the City Arts Centre and its outreach facilities.  
Responsibilities include:
  • Create and deliver fine and performing arts activities for the following lessons: 
    • Child/Youth: Visual Art, Dance, Cooking, and Pottery
    • Adult: Visual Art, Dance, Cooking, Knitting
  • Prepare classroom setting and supplies for each day or weekly class
  • Facilitate and engage students of all ages in creative arts based programs
  • Actively engage in the safety, well-being and development of students
  • Maintain the highest level of health and safety standards at City Arts Centre and its outreach facilities
  • Communicate regularly with coordinators and facility staff
  • Attend seasonal in-services, mock emergency sessions and other training as necessary
  • Perform other related duties as required



Qualifications

:
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Minimum 1 year of post-secondary education from a recognized institution in education or in a field related to the arts
  • Minimum of 1 year full-time experience (or the equivalent in cumulative hours) delivering programs Visual Art, Dance, Cooking, Pottery, or Knitting
  • Experience instructing Children/Youth (1-17 years) or Adults (15+ years) considered as an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Visual Art, Dance, Cooking, Pottery, or Knitting
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a classroom setting
  • Ability to interact and engage with students, in addition to maintaining a safe environment
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Level C is a requirement of this position
  • Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton

Salary:  $22.500 - $33.000 (Hourly); Dance Instructor:  $31.500 - $52.500 (Hourly)
