Title CAD Technician/Project Coordinator
Position Overview
Reporting to the Project Manager, the CAD Technician/Project Coordinator will be responsible for all facets of design drafting for our existing and perspective Utility clients, as well as, supporting the Project Manager with various coordination duties.
Key Responsibilities
  • Complete design drawings, quantity calculations and as-built drawings for oil & gas projects using various software packages (e.g. AutoCAD, Microstation)
  • Provide assistance with technical writing projects for key clients
  • Create series of templates, processes and procedures, guides and manuals for clients based on best practices recognized within the oil & gas industry
  • Develop documentation to assist Project Managers in project execution from initialization to completion
  • Support Project Designers with project documentation, design calculations and quality drawings
  • Create CAD drawings from concept to final design
  • Quality check drawings for mistakes
  • Assist in field surveys
  • Ability to travel for projects
  • Performs other duties as required
Required Knowledge & Skills
  • Minimum of one to two years of AutoCAD drafting experience 
  • Post-secondary education in Engineering
  • Experience with oil & gas projects is preferred
  • Technical writing experience is a strong asset
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD software and experience customizing AutoCAD, scripts, tools and Menu’s
  • Microstation experience considered an asset
  • Project management practices and document control knowledge
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat
  • Good understanding of how to read site plans
  • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task with minimal supervision
  • Self-motivated, ability to learn new skills, assume new responsibilities and work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Excellent safety and attendance record and previously demonstrated strong safety awareness
