We are currently looking to hire an Administration Program Assistant to support our Human Resources and Strategic Initiatives Departments. Reporting jointly to the Human Resources Manager and Director Strategic Initiatives, the Administration Program Assistant will perform a wide range of professional administrative duties under tight deadlines, requiring a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and discretion. In this newly created role, you will provide high-level administrative support and coordination for the two departments, both operationally as well as for special projects. You will also regularly engage with and support a variety of stakeholders, including the public, Council, co-workers, other government agencies and community organizations.
The Administration Program Assistant will be responsible for wide-ranging and relatively complex administrative, research/outreach support and coordination. One day you may be arranging staff training sessions and taking a stab at drafting HR policies. The next day, you may be updating the District’s Corporate Plan to reflect Council’s most recent decisions and summarizing results from a residents’ survey.
Ideally, your eyes will light up when we ask you questions such as: “Can you do some research for us?” and “Can you help us get the word out on this?” and “Can you set up a system to track this information?”. We will be looking to you to play a key role in helping us modernize and administer our policies, practices and systems. Your organizational, analytical, coordination, communication and people skills will be a significant asset.
To be successful in this role, you will have a two-year diploma in business administration or related field with a minimum of two years’ experience in a related position, preferably in a municipal setting.
