BASF Canada has been recognized as one of Canada s Top 100 Employers for 2018, as well as one of Greater Toronto s Top Employers for 2018. Where the Chemistry Happens   Working with the Manager, Communications & Public Relations, this position has responsibility for managing external communications for BASF Canada s Agriculture business to strengthen BASF s reputation amongst external stakeholders. This will include championing the BASF brand and global Agriculture brand in Canada to ensure all communications material, including customer-facing communications align with brand standards.   The successful candidate is also accountable for fostering positive awareness among external stakeholders via effective media and stakeholder relations, implement a strategic sponsorship and charitable donations strategy and counsel Canadian Leadership team members on effective issues management.  Formula for Success: You Will

  • Work with our public affairs agency of record, develop and execute a media relations strategy which fosters trust and delivers strong share of voice and positive tonality on key topics for the business.
  • Write and review press releases and articles for external publications, printed and online and prepare content for social media channels.
  • Champion the BASF brand in Canada and work with various teams and agencies to foster stronger brand awareness and ensure all content meets BASF brand standards.  
  • Implement sponsorship and charitable donations programs which support business objectives and align with the company s overall corporate giving strategy and policy.
  • Involves liaising with not for profit organizations, identifying and executing communications and press opportunities and supporting the business participation in strategic sponsorship opportunities and events.
  • Counsel Canadian leadership on potential and actual incidents and issues, while identifying and encouraging opportunities for positive media tonality. Responsible for cross-functional Canadian Issues Management team. 
  • Develop site/community communications plans as they relate to employee engagement, community relations and stakeholder consultation.

  • A Bachelor s degree in Communications, Marketing or a related field and/or a Diploma in Communications.  
  • Minimum of 5 years communications experience in a corporate or agency setting. Experience in the Agriculture industry is considered a strong asset. Strong self-initiative and leadership skills works well independently and as a member of a cross-functional team. Experience developing and implementing strategic communications plans. Media relations experience, including managing social media channels. Excellent written and oral communications skills. Demonstrated ability to deliver concise writing and message development for an external audience. Bilingualism (French) is considered a strong asset Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail.
